been playin hard... *PIC*

I decided, after fishing this one spot of lake for thirty years, to buy one of these new, high tech, fish finder sonar gizmo's from Garmin.

Before getting it hooked up and only having it for this latest trip out where we caught three really big catfish...well, really big compared to what we normal catch. Caught one 12.5 pounder and two 9 pounders. Did that twice about two weeks apart. Usually we catch fish in the 2.5 to 5 pound range.

Here's a screenshot from the one part of the multifunctioning piece of gizmo. You can see the fish in the circles. Although a pretty good picture the pic isn't as good as what we were seeing in the boat. It was impressive. We got to see the fish swimming along. Did it have anything with us catching the fish we caught that day? No, we caught them on jugs but it was still pretty damned cool seeing them down there.

It also maps the bottom of the lake. That's something that has always intrigued me. We have learned to disperse jugs within a particular 70ish foot area of lake in order to catch the most fish in the shortest period of time. After mapping the bottom we found a submerged creek that brackets the same are almost to a tee...probably explaining why it is the fish are always in that area.

At one point during a scan of the major cove we found a submerged tree with crappie hanging all over it. Marked it as a waypoint so we could find it again to fish crappie this weekend. Should be interesting.

Hope everyone is enjoying life...
