With 5 months to go before the U.S.Presidential Election and House and Senate elections the only thing likely at the present moment is Obama is likely to be re-elected but with no power to initiate legislation. The House is controlled by the Republicans and will likely remain that way and with the Senate election there is 33 seats up for election. 23 are Democrat, 10 are Republican and 2 are independent. Odds highly favour the Republicans winning the majority of these seats to regain the Senate. That would leave the U.S. with a Democat President and Republican controlled House of Representatives and Republican controlled Senate where all legislation must be scrutinized and passed. In other words you 'll have a lame duck Democrat President with no power. This is what the U.S. set up after their war of independence with Britain as they were extremely mistrustful of any level of government so put in checks and balances so no "one man" or single institution could have absolute power. Not perfect but does clip the wings of any single elected individual. Only choice the President will have under this situation is constant and dramatic compromise with any legislation submitted. Under this scenario there wont be anymore left wing Liberal policies initiated and passed. Instead of trading stocks and commodities these and other social situations can be traded both ways.
