I'm just south of the quake on Vancouver Island along the same fault line and never felt a thing. The Islands north of here where the quake occurred is Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands) A 7.7 quake is a significant sized quake but no damage was done even right near the quake center. I heard the highest 'tsunami wave' was about 5 to 12 inches. Nothing to write home about. The B.C. West Coast has lots of small quakes on the fault line generally well off shore with no damage being reported. And it's always nice to see the plates slip a little now and again causing a mild tremor just to relieve pressure. When it comes to natural disasters this area seems to be blessed with good fortune compared to the rest of the world.
