trading EuroDollar futures

Several times over the last few years, I've attempted to trade EuroDollar futures. Obviously, I wasn't successful or I wouldn't be here seeking the wisdom of those who have “been there”. I recently heard the news of HFT's and wondered if my lack of success was due to them “beating me to the punch” or me just being undercapitalized. To give you a more accurate picture, I never had enough to put even ten contracts up to trade at any one time. When I looked at the daily volume of the EuroDollar, it doesn't come close to products like Crude Oil, Currencies or any stock. I'm thinking maybe HFT's WEREN'T my downfall, but undercapitalization, since a trader would want more than just one or two contracts to trade and have their position offset. IF undercapitalization is the more likely answer, I have hope to make trading work, because my research still appears to hold true...
