He was a Prevented Person, for three counts. 1) Domestic violence .. two counts, whether civilian or military tribunal (court marshal), Gun Control Act of 1968, revised in 1993 to add that statute. He was sentenced to one year's incarceration. Again, making him (two counts now) a Prevented Person, said Act. And, a "bad conduct" discharge, pursuant to the Military Code of Justice, falls under the category of a dishonorable discharge.
Any of these three should have prevented him from purchasing, owning, or possessing a firearm. However, he lied on form 4473, which SHOULD have been discovered, running the background check.
Hell, I had a purchase, in 2007 held up due to something with the IRS that had been settled close to a decade earlier.
It wasn't the law. It wasn't like that last church mass murder, down your way where he had illegally sourced his firearm. This thing walked into a sporting goods retailer .. filled out the form, and the gummint .. well ... the gummint f-cked up, big time.
