Germany must ensure euro stability: Merkel ( EURUSD ) (by MarketWatch)
FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- Germany is committed to securing the stability of the euro and Germany must take an active role in ensuring contagion from the debt crisis doesn't infect other nations that share the currency, Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday in Berlin, according to Dow Jones Newswires. Merkel, addressing a meeting of the German Trade Association, also said German economic growth in 2011 would be nearer 3% than 2.5%. The euro (cur_eurusd) traded at $1.3802 versus the dollar, down 0.5% from Thursday.
