ECB, government disputes 'damaging,' Geithner says (by MarketWatch)
FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- Divisions between the European Central Bank and European governments are "very damaging," U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Friday, according to Dow Jones Newswires. "What's very damaging is not just seeing the divisiveness in the debate over strategy in Europe but the ongoing conflict between countries and the central bank ... Governments and central banks need to take out the catastrophic risk to markets," he said on the sidelines of a meeting of European finance ministers in Wroclaw, Poland.
