Raising heirloom tomatoes and saving seeds each year is a wonderful way to learn about discipline and life in general.
This year, I lost my first crop to ignorance but had saved 1/2 of my seeds from last year for "just-in-case." So, I replanted on a much smaller scale to harvest seeds for the future and have babied these plants so they are doing well. So, I will have seeds from this year as well as some still left over from last year for the future.
I have found that a "gold" coffee filter at $5 from AMZN is great for cleaning the seeds after the week in the Solo cup (and then on to the waxed paper to dry for a month or more).
You know the old kids' game "Paper, scissors".....? My view today is "Rock beats Snake".... Learn to be a rock. Sounds silly, but it is not.
