Re: ICD will love this budget proposal...
Prior to obimbo care, I had a HSA qualifying "high deductible" plan. It had a FAMILY deductible of $3500, followed by 100% coinsurance. That included prescriptions, doc visits .. any qualifying expense was applicable to the deductible. The only time that it was ever utilized was in 2007, when I had my spine sliced and diced ... total cost, for spouse and self ... for the year ... $3500.00. The premium for that plan was a whopping UNDER, but close to four hundred dollars. Of course, it was medically underwritten. Isn't all insurance underwritten?
Then, along came obimbo care .... Thirteen hundy, per month, for a $7500 INDIVIDUAL deductible, followed by 60/40 coinsurance with a VERY high moop.
I carried health insurance for the same reason that I have insurance on my house, rental properties, etc. Never filed a claim ... but, hey ... it's a just-in case.
Although I haven't seen a doctor in over four years ... I'm glad that I have Medicare. Compared to the onerous amount for obimbo care ... and having almost worthless coverage ... health insurance almost seems free.
