Re: Gun Stocks Plunge/++ more comments/Lee

Well I know In Canada major changes were made years ago with gun laws. In fact 80% to 90% of all the handguns were "Banned" and declared "Prohibited". Anything 4 inches or shorter are not allowed in the country. Their theory was longer barreled handguns could not be concealed as easily. Poor reason but it got rid of most handguns. Plus the gun course and testing both written and testing to get a licence. The list is so long I wont continue all the changes. But a key factor that caused them to change the laws was the 14 women shot by some pissed off gunman with a semi auto rifle at a Canadian University for women taking Engineering. ( maxim rifle mag size in Canada now is 5 rounds) Even owning a larger magazine could put you in jail. When something "extreme" occurs politicians can't just blow it off like any other previous situations and must 'Do Something". So they will do 'something' with the gun laws despite the 2nd amendment granting U.S.citizens the right to bear arms. There is a list a mile long that they can legally do to restrict firearms ownership and types etc. They already banned assault rifles in the U.S. but the ban expired in 2004. You can count on that ban to come back and be permanent I suspect along with a variety of restrictions that will be legally and constitutionally acceptable. It is the politically correct thing to do now and you know how they like to be re-elected regardless of previous stances on firearms. Not a good time to be on the other side of this situation especially if you are a politician. It becomes unacceptable to society overall much like drinking and driving or even smoking now. Once society views something this way it is doomed as the politicians jump on the politically correct bandwagon and change the laws.
