Yes. Prior to the ACA my wife and I had a HSA compliant plan .. five thousand dollar, FAMILY deductible ... 100% coinsurance ... Premium was less than five beans per month. I hadn't seen a physician since a pre-employment physical for Ma Merrill, in the late seventies.
Since those plans became "illegal", actually noncompliant pursuant to the Act... we opted for the lowest premium bronze plan ...
Thirteen thousand dollar deductible ... INDIVIDUAL DEDUCTIBLE ... and 60/40 coinsurance with a 12.500 dollar MOOP (maximum out of pocket) Premium? Eight hundred ninety and change .. we get SO much more for the HUGE savings brought about by the ACA.
BUT ... you get a FREE annual wellness (which I did not use) and women get another FREE female wellness, on top of the normal annual wellness. Pretty damned expensive check up, huh?
Yes ... the good ol' days where if you actually took care of yourself, kept your weight where it should be ... all of that good stuff .. You actually paid less than a fatty.
