I've squirrel hunted in heavy cedar, in the Hill Country .... waaay back. No problem. Even a six year old, with a single shot Remington bolt action, can bring in ten-twenty.
Never hunted in a cotton field, but the same could be said about any row crop. No problem.
Let's see who comes home with more eatable meat.
There's always overkill. I saw an old boy bring down a rabbit with a .30-30. I asked him why he used such an expensive round for a stinkin' rabbit. He replied, "That's all I got." Made sense at the time.
