That is correct...but, I think it was Clinturd that did it. At some time I remember somebody in the bushy boy admin trying to unwind it but the dems would have no part of it.
The dems thought everybody should be able to have a house to live out the "American" dream. Only problem is..their idea of the American dream is people getting stuff for nothing that they can't afford to pay for. So, it was mandated, by dem law, that the banks lower the thresholds on down payments so even those who had no business taking on a high dollar house loan could qualify and they were also mandated, by law, to make the loans.
As is typical of most all dem "pie in the sky" socialist ideas...it was a tremendous flop and is per usual they blamed it on the republicans and the free market. Which...again...as per usual...was a phucking dem lie.
