Hi Dan,
I responded here because I do not like that other "subject/thread" that I think Coral started.
I certainly wish you luck and it seems you have received many solid thoughts (I avoid the word advise).
Seems like Rich H with access to CQG has much better data than I to work with. and the others may as well.
The engineer in me just has me trying to put myself in your position and figure out what I might do as well, plus fully understand the thoughts that have been offered by others.
On the most recent Doc post, Gian reference:
Symbol Description.............. Last ........Bid ........Ask... OI
OJX11 Orange Juice NOV 2011 192.20 192.75 197.10 235
OJF12 Orange Juice JAN 2012 173.70 173.25 173.35 19,987
OJU12 Orange Juice SEP 2012 167.55 0.00 ........170.10 53
I post this to note the prices and OI that I have as of Fri. close.
Without nitpicking pennies, the 6 contracts are worth about 1k/$ rise. The Ask is already posting 5 over Last (and that may be a figment of the settlement numbers but F doesn't reflect that large a difference).
Food for thought ........
Make sure you are ready at market open, do your DD, I think it is 8am eastern.
Watch the bid/ask as the market open approaches. Personally, I would shy away from putting in an "open ended market order" before or at market open. I might put in a "limit order a couple of points above Ask (pick your poison, you want to get out for sure). If get no takers, take a deep breath and go to a market order .... someone else warned --- else you risk getting dollar ed to death.
More Food ........
I'm no expert, but I do fiddle with the eminis and am careful near open/close etc. when trading is light but I do find that If I meet the bid/ask as appropriate (maybe give them an extra tick) I usually get an immediate fill.
Good Luck Dan !!!
If willing where/when did you short --- day, price ????
Thanks, Lee
