Although, nationwide, raccoons are the main carriers of rabies that infect humans and skunks are #2. In Nohio, feral cats are the prime carriers of rabies that infect humans.
If you've had them "fixed" and vaccinated, they're really not feral. They're simply "outdoor" cats. And, those are acceptable. Feral cats are totally unacceptable.
Opussums have very sharp teeth, but I've never heard of one biting a human.
I simply kill them, on sight. And, live traps do work well for them. Followed by a .22 pellet ... and it's "Down the ravine" with them. The dead raccoons need company.
