Here's the problem. The tax deal gave you a benefit, as you admit. I proposed others get a compensating benefit. You said "okay. if I get that benefit also to be fair." What's fair about you always wanting an extra benefit? To be fair, you can choose one benefit only. And, each benefit should be comparable in value.
I'm being serious here. This exchange is an perfect example of why everything's disintegrating. A vet wants extra benefits because he's a vet. A senator wants extra benefits because he's a senator. I want a benefit because I don't value these other people as highly as they value themselves. After Vietnam, no extra benefits in the all volunteer service. It's a job chosen. These folks could choose to go into another line of work if they don't like it.....including the senator.
