The tax legislation benefits someone that pays taxes. If you don't pay taxes, you get a ten thousand percent reduction ... multiply that by zero ... I think I mentioned, to you, about someone that does some work for me. I actually pay for his bond and licensure, so that I can 1099 him. He works around twelve hours a week. I offered him a straight gig, that would have added around ten hours a week .. and increased his pay (after all expenses) around thirteen large, extra, per year. That would have had he, and wife, lose their subsidy for their health insurance under the ACA. His subsidy was around 1080 per month .. and that's TAX FREE. He turned it down ... I have done day labor, when times were really tough, at UNDER minimum wage and hard, backbreaking work. I just have never understood the gimme, gimme, gimme mentality. In this man's instance, it was a decision that he would have been a fool to take on extra work and responsibility .... I understand that. However, a system that makes one stupid to work .. and smart to not work .. something's wrong.
