I don't know about that. Big tobacco was registering trade names, such as "Acapulco Gold" way back in the early seventies ... Just on the "in case". Much of the legalization state ballot money, promoting the "vote yes" came FROM pharmaceutical companies .. I've always been one to follow the money. If you notice, such as in this state, the growers ... and even the retailers are limited to a big few ... that have really greased the palms of the politicians.
