I'm not a big fan of side arms, bang-bang, or otherwise. The only one that I own, with which I can hit the broad side of a barn is my Colt Python .357. My wife actually enjoys firing pistols. I bought her a Berretta .380 (aka baby nine) a few decades back .. and she's quite accurate with such.
Trout is unable, due to zoning, to discharge firearms on his property. Some of the break open rifles can kick at 1500 fps. For around a hunnert 'n a half, there's plenty that'll do 1200 fps. From what he has disclosed, he has plenty of land .. just township zoning crap. Rather than run to a range every day ... it's nice to be able to pick a nice day to just plink and shoot raccoons, 'n such. Airguns will fit that bill, quite nicely.
Now, I still have a Holland and Holland .500/.465 Nitro Express .. she's a plain jane .. blackened and case hardened .. NO engraving .. but talk about "bang-bang". A little overkill for that tom cat that encroaches on Trout's property.
