Speakin' of air rifles .. In Captains Lewis and Clark's expedition, some journals report how they carried twenty-two shot air rifle repeaters. They, supposedly, put out a pretty decent sized lead ball. To charge them, they had some type of brass cylinder with a gasket made out of horn ... supposedly, it'd hold 800 psi of air ... It took 1500 full pumps (yes, one thousand five hundred pumps) from some device for a full charge.
From journals, etc., it was stated that they harvested many deer with those suckers.
