yes...I've heard that most if not all my life. Pretty impressive that air guns have been around that long. I actually considered buy a large caliber air rifle that's supposed to be capable of taking deer sized critters but decided I would likely not use it after the novelty wore off.
The odds are extremely low that I would opt for an air gun over a bang gun to kill a deer unless there are some extenuating circumstance I can't foresee happening.
