If the pain migrates around to various places, you might have gout. If so, taking indomethacin (sp?) for a few days will also cause the pains to disappear and stay gone for a good bit.

Drs are not real good at diagnosing gout, however.

Walgreens had a 241 sale on Ibuprofen some years ago and I looked up from eye level (where the best profit margin items sit) and I saw 2 bottles of 1,000 tabs (200mg) on the top shelf. Got those two for less than $25. They expired several years ago but still work as new. I take 800mg one day and another dose the next day and that generally is sufficient. It works really well if your prostate is occasionally acting up.
